The Story of Whisk(e)y
An Evening of (bad) Stand up Comedy Punctuated by Drinking!
“A comic, multimedia misadventure through whiskey’s world history and cultural trends, narrated by an industry vet who’s seen it all - a format that’s fun, educational, approachable and good for all ages (over 21)!”
““Robin is a fantastic presenter. Not only is he very knowledgeable about whisky, but he is highly entertaining!” ”
yes, the entire story of whisk(e)Y…
It’s a live, fast-paced entertainment about the entire story of whisk(e)y doing double duty as a whiskey tasting. It’s a new approach to the venerable “master class”. More than viewing this dynamic category through the prism of one brand, it is an entertaining, insightful and illuminating look at what whisk(e)y was, what it is and where it’s going.
““To say it was informative would be an understatement.
To say it was entertaining would be an even bigger understatement.
The only time I stopped laughing was to drink more whiskey.””
““This was the best Zoom call I’ve had since the lockdown started””
The Story of Whisk(e)y is the complete narrative arc of whisk(e)y, accompanied by a tasting featuring whiskies that span the entirety of the category: Scotch, Japanese, Irish, Canadian, American and "World”. Participating brands will be fully represented as part of the long narrative: their origin, style, taste, method of production, influence and impact. They will be shown as the contributors to the on-going narrative while at the same time being highlighted for their uniqueness. Six different brands of whisk(e)y will form the story at any given time and the ideal brand participants are smaller, less known yet no less significant.
““Robin Robinson is a force of nature. I am confident there is no other person on earth with anything close to his combination of whisky knowledge, infectious energy and rapier-like wit!” -
”
The show has a successful run at whiskey festivals and commercial venues since 2018. During Covid, it shifted to online corporate Zoom events and is now back as a live show.
Hold on to Your (Gl)asses!
““Robin has a truly natural joie de vivre which instantly makes people feel they are part of something very special. His warmth, passion, and self-deprecating sense of humor combined with a world class knowledge of whiskey history make his presentation something truly out of the ordinary.” ”

Let’s face it, we're not solving the big issues of our time here.
We're drinking whiskey.
And it should be fun.
But so should learning about whiskey: Bourbon, Japanese, Scotch, Irish, world whiskies, craft whiskies. The whole deal, no matter from where and when.
The Story of Whisk(e)y is focused on having a good time:

More whiskey…more entertainment…
After Hurricane Sandy devastated the areas around New York and New Jersey in 2012, I called out to all the other whiskey purveyors doing business in the New York area and in 3 weeks, organized the Whiskey Auction. We raised over $19,000 in one night:

Then there was that time when John Glaser from Compass Box wanted to set something on fire to celebrate the launch of his new whisky, Flaming Heart. So we did...
Robin Robinson presented an interactive and highly entertaining seminar to our clients! I also was impressed by his attention to detail. He went above and beyond by helping us with customized place mats, rental and refreshment suggestions. He helped us transform our conference room into a proper class room. Client feedback has been extremely positive. We would look to work with him on future client events.

After hundreds of whiskey festivals and pouring thousands of samples, you can get a little frazzled by the general public. So I created this cartoon to blow off a little steam…
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing
Robin was an outstanding host for the tasting. He was informative, enlightening, and knowledgeable. His skills as a presenter are top rate. At the end of the hour, one of the bagpipers stood up in full regalia and told Robin that of all of the tastings done at Mohonk House (from very popular names) he was by far the best.
